Sarah's Terrible, Horrible, No-Good, Very Bad Week

I think I'll move to Australia.

1. It all started when I left my parents' house. (note: So it seems that it is not that you can never go home again, but rather that once you leave and come back, you can never leave again. Tricky bit of semantics there.) I left my cell phone behind-- not a very big deal, except that it meant that Jeremy and I couldn't communicate with each other on the fly in NYC. OK, just a little more planning and organization. I did end up stranded in a restaurant waiting for half an hour-- luckily, I was myself half an hour late-- but while waiting I did drink some nice tea and learn about Finland.

2. Then, our plane from Newark to Germany was delayed 4 hours, and that delay time was unfortunately spent sitting in our seats on the plane while the mechanics looked at the back-up power. The did let us off after 2 hours to get something to eat with a whopping $8 voucher, but as we were still in line waiting for this bit of largess, we were informed to get our food in a hurry because the plane would be boarding again in 5-10 minutes. By the time we got to Hamburg, the surreal feeling had kicked in, perhaps compounded by our joint smelly-ness.

3. We finally made it back to the apartment at 6pm-- instead of the planned 10am-- only to find a small crowd of people waiting on our doorstep. Our landlord had scheduled an apartment showing for exactly this moment. So, we dragged our suitcases up the stairs (mine was very light, so shush) followed by the hopeful-but-soon-to-be-disappointed apartment hunting hoarde. And, like most hoardes, they tracked all kinds of slushy mess into the apartment.

4. I went to Freiburg this Saturday to teach a baroque dance workshop to some music students. The class was great-- I was at my enthusiastic teaching best-- but I lost my wallet on the train. Luckily, the woman who invited me to teach gave me 10€ for dinner on the way back, and I was able to talk the ticket guy into accepting my ticket. I had, you see, the kind of ticket that requires identification, and all of my identification was lost with my wallet. Thankfully, I had a letter from the music conservatory in Freiburg inviting me to teach-- before he accepted that as an ID it was looking pretty dire.

5. While I was busy losing my wallet between Cologne and Freiburg, some hacker got into my email and send some stupid electronics ad to everyone in my address book. DON'T CLICK ON ANYTHING! AND FOR HEAVENS' SAKE, DON'T BUY ANYTHING!!!!

6. The stupid Handyman for this crap-ass apartment wants to charge us 500€ to paint, so Jeremy is going to have to do it himself. Poor guy. That's what happens when you are around me too much at this moment.

I better go do some yoga now.

But something good did happen this week-- we got to see our little Jean-Philippe moving around and sucking his thumb in the ultrasound!! He seems to be doing very well, not too big and all the organs are doing their respective things. And what a cute little tummy!!

Here's the pic:

Geesh... happy new year. :( Look on the bright side: next week can't possibly be as bad. And the kid is cute!

Thanks, Tiff! Anyway, do you know that book, "Alexander's terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day"? Noah might like it... maybe when he is older.

We just read that book in class last week! Kids can definitely relate - everything is a major disaster to them.
Are #4 and #5 connected.?
You should be getting your phone soon.Dad mailed it on the 9th.
The new picture is in the baby book! Can you take the flip for the next sonogram????

Sarah, it's only hormones, it'll better the next trimester. Love, Aunt Ann

Mom, I really don't think 4 and 5 are connected because there is nothing in my wallet that would tell people my email password...

I didn't even think of bringing the flip! That would give Jeremy something to do ;)
